About
I make sculptures out of found objects. I am obsessed with giving “trash” a new life, and I honestly feel like it deserves one. When I see an object with potential, I use it as a tool for communication. The object itself comes with so many implied meanings from its previous purpose. I combine it with something that contrasts its visual form or function to create something new and unexpected. If I can achieve this, then digging through the dumpsters is worth it.
I make oil paintings that begin with a memory that I want to preserve or an intuitive drawing that turns into figures or creatures of some kind. Through painting, I want to embrace the weirdness within myself, which is something I used to reject. I want you to look at the weirdness within yourself with playfulness, curiosity, and discomfort too. Once you're there, stay a while. It’s your greatest asset.
